Waiting For The Easter Guys
In the little town Ootmarsum (in the Twente region in Holland), there's an ancient tradition called 'Vlögeln'. On Easter day, a group of bachelors, dressed in long raincoats and hats, lead the people through the town. They walk hand in hand in a long procession, singing Easter songs. The bachelors stop at several of the town houses, where they're offered a glass of liqueur. They're called 'Poaskeerls' (Easter Guys), and they're immortalized in the statue that you see in this photo.
